Mostre Musei Comunali di Spoleto
The project for Spoleto's network of municipal museums envisions a coordinated direction of its six component sites under the banner of contemporary art and creation. The aim is to create connections between the various sites, placing them at the center of a series of projects capable of uniting history and the present, open to different audiences and contexts.
In the summer period, in conjunction with Festival dei Due Mondi, the network of museums offers a rich program of initiatives, including exhibitions, installations, meetings, workshops: the aim is to encourage contamination between disciplinary areas and knowledge, thanks to the direct intervention of artists within the different spaces.
Palazzo Collicola, the Chiesa dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo, the Museo del Tessuto e del Costume, the Casa Romana, the Museo delle Scienze e del Territorio, the Museo delle Miniere: all the venues of the city's museum circuit will be affected from artistic interventions that will enhance their contents, expanding the possibilities of reading them. Through this program, Spoleto's network of museums intends to characterize itself as a platform dedicated to research, dissemination, meeting and experimentation.
The involvement of different age groups and audiences is among the main objectives of the Municipal Administration, which in this intends to strengthen the role of museums as places of aggregation and exchange, as well as centers of cultural production capable of boosting the artistic and social life of the city. Another distinguishing feature of the initiatives is the ability to generate collaborations, between the artists involved and the professionals involved in the management of the museums, as well as with different realities - foundations and associations, both city and non-municipal - that have proposed content for the network's venues.
The programming, which will kick off to end of June, will accompany the public throughout the summer, until the fall.
