Presenting: KILN

Kiln, an operation by Jacopo Naccarato and Bernardo Tirabosco, delves into the timeless link that, in the process of artistic creation, sees the transformation of matter to its aestheticization. The intervention, constituting a real setting, involves the activity of four ovens, made by the artists themselves, lit with live fire, anciently a symbolic element of metamorphosis. This, indeed, is the reference at the basis of the titling of the work in question, which, tracing the conceptual dimension ofopera to a real cultural archetype (the term "kiln" indicates the oldest type of thermal chambers still known), proves to be philologically connected to the primal practice of the mutation of matter into material, into form, into object, into opera art. Aspect, the latter, which, in the organicity of the installation, is enriched by a decisive performative phase, where actors adorned in scanty clothes set the ovens in operation, interfering with fire, matter, time and sound, as in a ritual with features as ancestral as they are universal.
