AQUA MANTRAS
Eva Geist & Maria Torres, feat. Raki Fernandez
"Mary and I bring you our latest co-creation, born out of adoration and reverential awe of the oceans and in collaboration with Sound Earth Legacy (SEL), a nonprofit organization that aims to to record and preserve the sounds of the Earth, supporting pioneering scientific environmental projects through sound&music.
Mary and I are longtime collaborators and we like to integrate personal experience and research into our art, approaching creation as an intuitive dance: through contemplation of the dream, attention to the songs and symbols that arise to guide the creative process.
Andrea's hypnotic set is created based on underwater field recordings provided by SEL, a personal reworking of traditional Kundalini mantras, placed in the framework of the brand new conceptual project called "Poetas Sonicos."
For the images, María collected archives of underwater images and documented the response of rainwater to the vibration of Andrea's compositions, capturing the dance of fluid in her music.
The work premiered at the Mira Festival, to Barcelona, in November 2021. The performance included a live set by Eva Geist, dressed by designer Raki, and images of Maria projected on stage.
Please to stay tuned to the project as we move forward in this ocean exploration.
Let us dive, between the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, into the water blessed by beauty."
