A 21-piece group of musician-professionals and professional-musicians, united by their passion for jazz music, interpret Neapolitan songs and tunes by Duke Ellington and Count Basie in a jazz key.
The TRIBUNAL MIST JAZZ BAND was born to Naples in 1991 and is composed from of twenty elements between musicians-professionals and professionals-musicians, all united by a pure passion for music and in particular for jazz.
The creator, artistic director, musician and "soul" of the band is LawyerPaolo Pannella and the conductor is Maestro Antonio Solimene.
Alongside performances in numerous domestic and foreign venues and theaters, the Tribunal Mist Jazz Band has been on the annual jazz billboard of the legendary Parisian jazz temple"Le petit journal Montparnasse" since 1996. In the years from 2003 to 2007 the Band was called by the organizers of Umbria Jazz to perform to Perugia for the Jazz Festival.
The uniqueness of this band is precisely that, being composed entirely from from Campania, it was the first big band to to reread and reinterpret traditional Neapolitan songs in a jazz key. Their musical energy goes beyond the limits of simple "professional" performance becoming instead a passion for music and involving listeners-spectators, even the less "jazzphiles." They have already recorded two CDs, "Napoli Standard" and "Authorized Notes."

This year the Tribunal Mist Jazz Band has prepared a new CD containing Neapolitan songs revisited in a jazzy key, belonging to the well-known Neapolitan "Piedigrotta. "
This event, even before the Naples festival, gave prominence to to Neapolitan songs that later became the heritage of international music. The peculiarity of the Piedigrotta musical festival consisted in the fact that it was the public (not already the record to table) to decreeing the success of a song, flocking to the squares in large numbers to listen to the songs and applaud the singers and orchestral players.
That′s why the Tribunal Mist Jazz Band intends to pay homage to some Piedigrotta songs and other Neapolitan songs known all over the world, albeit sung in the vernacular. The performance will feature the full TMJB lineup: 20 musicians, two singers, and the conductor.
