The Soweto Gospel Cho ir was formed to celebrate the exceptional energy and inspiring power of South African Gospel music.The choir, under the direction of David Mulovhedzi and Beverly Bryer, attracts the best talent from the many churches in and around Soweto and its purpose is to to share the joy of faith through music.In the show African Spirit , the two-time Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir performs a repertoire that reflects aspects of the Rainbow Nation's history, capturing its beauty and passion, celebrates the strength of the human spirit and, through lively rhythm, dance and vocal research, brings to the stage songs that evoke the past, as well as songs of joy and prayer for the present and future.The show includes songs that have to to do with the many aspects of the human spirit, from understood as religious spirit (gospel songs), love for another person('I'll Remember You' by Bob Dylan) or a desire for coexistence in harmony among peoples ('World in Union').With 22 performers on stage, including singers, dancers and percussionists, African Spirit succeeds to in shaking souls, conveying to the audience the beauty and passion that characterize Africa.
