London Symphony Orchestra
The London Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1904, is certainly one of the best-known and most highly regarded orchestras in the world. Its many activities include energetic and innovative music education programs aimed at the community, a music education center, a record label, and ongoing research in information technology. At its headquarters, located in the center of the City on Barbican Street, the LSO promotes more concerts than any other London classical music organization, and its Live recordings have introduced the orchestra to an audience of millions.to more than a century after its formation, the LSO still attracts excellent instrumentalists, many of whom have pursued careers from teachers, soloists, and musicians in orchestras from chamber parallel to their work in the orchestra. The LSO's list of soloists and conductors is unparalleled: in it we find first conductor Valery Gergiev, LSO President Sir Colin Davis, and Daniel Harding and Michael Tilson Thomas as principal co-conductors. It has had Pierre Monteaux, André Previn and Claudio Abbado as permanent conductors, among others.
Daniel Harding is one of the brightest conductors of the new generation. He is the principal guest conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Conductor of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He previously served as Principal Conductor of the Trondheim Symphony in Norway (1997-2000), Principal Guest Conductor of Sweden´s Norrköping Symphony (1997-2003), and Principal Conductor of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (1997-2003).A regular guest conductor of some of Europe´s leading orchestras, he has also performed in the United States with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Symphony Orchestras of Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston, and Toronto.
