PREMIO SIAE

For the eighth consecutive year, the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers is alongside the Spoleto Festival dei 2Mondi to support young people and culture. This year SIAE pays great attention to music from films with a special concert and a new award named after Maestro Manuel De Sica, who passed away to in 2014, from award to a young soundtrack composer.

The concert _Quando la musica raccont_a is dedicated entirely to the greatest Italian film music composers: from Ennio Morricone to Nino Rota, from Manuel De Sica to Armando Trovajoli, from Piero Piccioni to Franco Micalizzi. An evening made special by the presence of a 45-piece symphony orchestra, under the artistic direction of Franco Micalizzi and Niccolò Petitto, and the participation of distinguished guests such as Christian De Sica, Giampiero Ingrassia, Serena Rossi and Fabrizio Bosso.

On the occasion of this event, SIAE with the Federation of Authors will award a young author of music from film, chosen from those who participated to a specific call for entries, published simultaneously by the two bodies and the organization, which requires the writing of an original piece on a specific theme. The overall winner, chosen from Christian De Sica among the top 10 best pieces selected by the Federation of Authors' quality jury, will receive a plaque named in memory of Maestro Manuel De Sica, which will be presented to him by his brother Christian. The song will be performed live on the evening of the award ceremony.
