La pittura ricamata di Elena Marchegiani Matticari
The figure of the Narnese embroidery artist Elena Marchegiani Matticari represents a fundamental piece of the cultural fabric of the 20th century in the region of Umbria, her from self-taught training combined with her very high skills in line and perspective and the mastery with which she carried out her "mission" as an embroiderer, make perceptible the union between art and craftsmanship that, through the simplicity of cotton thread and the expressive richness of the artifact, she was able to retrace with her needles and threads the modernity and color of Impressionist and Futurist painting of the 20th century. The works on display belong totally to private collectors and represent an artistic experience that is outside the circuits and interests of critics, but very rich in signs, techniques and values, which together hand down a living heritage of culture and sensitivity.
