For the ninth year, the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers is alongside the Spoleto Festival, this year supporting an event dedicated to youth creativity.

The Santa Cecilia Conservatory's Jazz Department, directed by composer and double bassist Paolo Damiani, presents a two-part program. In the first, Rosario Giuliani, professor of jazz sax and world-renowned soloist, conducts an ensemble of excellent students; in the second, Paolo Damiani leads a sextet comprising some of the best jazz graduates, all now well-known soloists. The first part of the concert is based on some standards that were part of Charlie Parker's repertoire, from whose solos have been extrapolated, arranged for five saxes and rhythm section. to these are joined by some original pieces by Rosario Giuliani. In the second part, the program features compositions by Paolo Damiani characterized from an original melodic vein rooted in the ethnic music of the Mezzogiorno and ItalianOpera . In the pieces, while strongly structured, the counterpoint lines tend to to generate open and flexible sound spaces in which breath and sudden gesture dance freely and joyfully. The songfulness of the compositions never renounces research, understood above all as curious listening, invention, amazement, ironic wandering, pleasure, enjoyment.
