JAMES CAPPER: ATLAS IN SPOLETO
UN FILM DI MATTHEW BURDIS
Video installation by Matthew Burdis documenting James Capper's ATLAS sculptural project, created during the last edition of the Festival. ATLAS is a mobile sculpture that stands on a concrete plinth and sculpts its own base through the use of specially created teeth. It was commissioned from CGP London, with support from The Henry Moore Foundation, Arts Council England and The London Borough of Southwark.

James Capper has been nominated for the 'South Bank Sky Arts Awards' and 'The Times Breakthrough Award' (both in 2015) and was winner of the Royal Society of British Sculptors Bursary Award (2011). He was artist-in-residence at Mahler & LeWitt Studios in 2016.
He is a film-maker living and working to London. He was awarded the Landmark PLC Award for the film made as his thesis work, Lindisfarne One One and runs the Chelsea Film Forum at Chelsea College of Art & Design to London. He recently wrote and directed a short film under the auspices of the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), London as a contribution to the STOP PLAY RECORD program. He was artist-in-residence at Mahler & LeWitt Studios in 2016. He is currently working on The Houses of Mahler, a film dedicated to the homes and shelters in which Gustav Mahler performed his compositions.
