"COPYRIGHT IS A RIGHT"
SOCIALLY CORRECT COMPETITION 2009
The "Paolo Ettorre - Socially Correct" Association in collaboration with Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and the SIAE promotes, in continuation of the 2008 edition, an advertising communication contest to award a scholarship on a specific theme of social relevance.
The Association was established to commemorate the figure of Paolo Ettorre, who throughout his career always stood out for his sensitivity and commitment to social issues by championing numerous campaigns on issues of importance to society.
The contest is aimed at Italian and European students residing in Italy, attending universities, public and private schools, vocational courses, postgraduate courses in the field of communication. to each member of the "creative couple" that will be the winner of the contest will be given the opportunity to do an unpaid internship, respectively in the role of Art Director and Copywriter, at the creative department of the Saatchi & Saatchi Agency, in one of the offices in Rome or Milan.
The social campaign on which contest participants are called to to confront, this year touches on the highly topical issue: copyright.
"Copyright is a Right," this is the title of the contest and the theme of the social campaign, with the aim of raising awareness of the need to protect the "originality" of an 'opera art and to preserve copyright.
The need to ensure adequate protection for copyrights is also increasingly felt in light of the development of the information society. Indeed, intellectual works protected by copyright increasingly end up being placed on the Internet and exchanged without the knowledge, and without the control from part, of their respective authors. This reality finds nourishment in the very mindset of the Internet surfer, who, through illegal "file sharing" and downloading has further amplified the phenomenon of piracy.
In Europe, as in Italy, there has been and is strongly felt, the need to identify a position of balance between the implementation of systems and measures for the protection of intellectual property rights and respect for the fundamental rights of network users and citizens. On several occasions, the EU legislator, as well as the national legislator, has had the opportunity to affirm the need, for an effective fight against piracy both off-line and on-line, to flank the regulatory instrument also with other complementary tools, such as the promotion and signing of codes of conduct and self-regulation among the operators of the economic-industrial sectors involved in the dissemination of digital content and the launching of communication and awareness campaigns, on the negative effects of piracy, addressed to citizens and consumers.
The goal of the communication project of the 2009 Socially Correct Competition is precisely to raise awareness among the public and especially the younger generation. The communication campaign will have to help to develop the "culture" of the original of each opera of art, which is a valuable asset and has value precisely because it is unique, unrepeatable and therefore "precious." The campaign will have to speak especially to adolescents with messages with tones and languages to dedicated to them, simple, direct, effective, and will be produced by the Socially Correct Association and presented, also with the support of institutional sponsors, in the media, press and web.
The presentation of the winning project will take place at the Copynight concert on July 10, 2009 in the prestigious setting of the Teatro Romano.
The winners of the Socially Correct Competition and the creative key they will have found to express the importance of copyright will be the starting point for an evening entirely dedicated to the theme.
It will consist of a concert, featuring some of Italy's most talented musicians, Gino Paoli, Malika Ayane, Caparezza, Chiara Civello, Lucariello, Pacifico and Paola Turci but also a confidential monograph on Copyright.

The audience will be taken into the world of copyright law, between one
performance and another , through historical anecdotes, musical cues and
literary examples, to realize how much copyright law is
silently part of our lives, from always.
Matteo Bordone and Vittorio Cosma, visually framed by Giuseppe Ragazzini's
animated video paintings, together with musicians
who will play on stage, will share with the audience the more shadowy side of artistic creation. The most interesting
representatives of new Italian music, and two communicators from different backgrounds
(radio, music) will demonstrate, rather than explain, how
great artistic insights are born, and how important it is to be able to say:
"I made this."
Proceeds from the evening will go to the "Save Art in Abruzzo" initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
