For the first time in 35 years, the Fiesole School of Music has the pleasure of collaborating with one of the most important Italian festivals. In Menotti´s time there had been an invitation from the Maestro to the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, which unfortunately could not be accepted for purely temporal reasons. Today the conversation between a great Festival and an educational institution is once again opened to give space to young concert performers by offering them a springboard of undoubted prestige. The musicians who will participate in the midday concerts are students of the Perfection Courses of Pavel Vernikov, Natalia Gutman, Maria Tipo, Bruno Canino, and the Parma Trio. This is just a small cross-section of the great hive that is the Scuola di Fiesole, a utopian dream of Piero Farulli, which in 35 years has passed from an entirely embryonic stage, open mainly to amateurs, to reach today the highest peaks of concert professionalism.

Fiesole Music School
Founded in 1974 as a free association at opera by Piero Farulli and a group of musicians and music lovers, with the aim of filling the many gaps in Italian musical life. The School is open to everyone from children to adults, from those who want to make music their profession to amateurs.
The students (about 1,300) are directed early on toward ensemble music; to from the age of six they enter to be part of I Piccoli Musici and then continue with the Orchestra dei Ragazzi, the Galilei and finally the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, which has had the honor of having conductors such as Abbado, Ferro Muti, Sinopoli, Giulini, Tate, etc.
In addition to the basic courses, the School offers annual master classes with teachers such as: M. Tipo, N. Gutman, P. Vernikov, B. Canino, G. Corti, M. Postinghel, C. Desderi, the Parma Trio etc.
In 2002, it started the European Quartet Academy in a network with some of the most important European training centers from Vienna to Zurich, from Paris to Helsinki etc. In addition to the four illustrious founders Piero Farulli, Hatto Beyerle, Norbert Brainin, and Milan Škampa, its teachers have included such distinguished musicians as G. Kurtág, V. Berlinsky, S. Sciarrino, to.Corghi, C. Coin, M. Stroppa, F. Vacchi etc.
The School's activities are made possible by the financial support of the Ministries of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Region of Tuscany, the Province and Municipality of Florence, and the Municipality of Fiesole. Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze is an irreplaceable patron of all its activities.
In 1981 it was awarded the I Edition of the Abbiati Prize as the best musical initiative. In 2005 it received from Carlo Azeglio Ciampi the National President of the Republic Award on the recommendation ofAccademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Orchestra Giovanile Italiana received the Abbiati Prize in 2004 and the Praemium Imperiale Grant for Young Artists in 2008.
Currently Andrea Lucchesini is Artistic Director of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
Orchestra J. Futura
Founded in August 2006 at the behest of Trentino entrepreneur Paola Stelzer and Maurizio Dini Ciacci, who becomes its artistic director, the Orchestra, formed from young people aged between 18 and 30 years, is configured as an ensemble endowed with great stylistic and performing versatility evidenced from an activity among which stand out: the realization of F.Opera . Poulenc's La Voix humaine at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo and the Teatro Malibran in Venice in collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro la Fenice, a series of concerts in Austria, participation in important festivals and concert events (Verona, Barga, Bertinoro, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Mozart Festival in Rovereto, Festival della Wallonie in Belgium, and two prestigious performances at the European Parliament and the Council of Europe to Brussels). In collaboration with the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Pianistico in Imola, it has initiated a series of concerts accompanying talented young soloists.
In 2009 the Orchestra will be present at the Venice Biennale and, during the summer, under the name J. Futura International, will give life to an ensemble including Italian, Portuguese and French musicians in order to inaugurate an extensive activity and network of relationships to European level. to from November 2009 until April 2010 the Orchestra will be engaged in a Mozart project to Rome in collaboration with the Philharmonic Academy. All projects that the Orchestra carries out are preceded from a preparatory phase carried out from qualified section teachers. Maurizio Dini Ciacci, as artistic director of the Orchestra, transfers to the ensemble the experience as a musician gained during his career in Italy and abroad.
