The symphonic concert of the Verdi Orchestra, conceived in the wake of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, presents pages inspired to variously by our homeland: it starts from a brilliant stylistic exercise by the brilliant Franz Schubert with the two Overtures in "Italian Style" D. 592 and 597; it continues, hearing it in its first Italian performance, with the "Piccola ouverture all´italiana" by Giorgio Battistelli, among the best known contemporary Italian composers to internationally.A Lisztian page, perhaps little practiced but of great depth, the poem "Tasso, lament and triumph" dedicated to the great poet of "Jerusalem" and "Aminta," closes the first part.Felix Mendelssohn - Bartholdy's celebrated symphony No. 4 "Italiana," rich in popular melodic stylistic features of the Peninsula, will engage the young Milanese symphonic ensemble in daring virtuoso performances in the second part.
