CONCERTO FINALE - VIVA L' ITALIA!
The unbreakable bond between Giuseppe Verdi, the Risorgimento and the Unity of Italy represent the main theme of the Festival´s Final Concert in Piazza Duomo. The Verdi pages we will hear on this evening, carefully chosen from the immense lyrical heritage left to humanity by the composer from Busseto, evoke to sentiments of patriotism, the struggle against foreign oppression, and the aspiration for freedom and peace; those sentiments that led, with immense sacrifices and thousands of young lives broken, to the long-awaited National Unity. The religious yearning also moves Verdi´s inspiration: the pieces on the program represent examples of the highest profile in sacred production of all times. In the incomparable Spoleto setting of Piazza Duomo, the Chorus and Orchestra of the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples will be conducted by American Maestro James Conlon, international star and current "Music Director of Los Angeles Opera"
