C’era due volte
"The man whose name is spoken stays alive!" Rodari's tale begins with Lamberto, an elderly baron who is extremely rich and always ill, attempting to stave off his death by hiring six workers who day and night, locked in an attic, repeat his name aloud. The trick works, and the baron rejuvenates to visibly until Octavius, his only nephew, after three assassination attempts on his uncle in hopes of collecting his inheritance, discovers and interrupts the work in the attic, causing the baron's death. Just during the funeral, however, the great hubbub of those present pronouncing the name of the deceased allows for a final twist: Lamberto's rebirth. The study of Palazzina Zero, still in development, starts from here. An actress and two actors create the original dramaturgy between fable and stark reality. to starting from the themes suggested by the novella, such as the desire for immortality, the fear of aging and death, which even today more than ever creates disorientation, issues closely related to our contemporary times emerge. These include a striking resemblance between Baron Lamberto and Jeff Bazos who invests billions of dollars on cellular rejuvenation, or again, the issue of so-called memorial accounts: social profiles of users who are deceased but who in the virtual world continue to to live. The intent is to maintain a dual channel of communication: the evocative-sensory channel of fable and the cognitive-dialogical channel of reality. The work is ignited by the multidisciplinary nature of word, body and music dialoguing in symbiosis. Images, paintings, scenes come to life to offer to the viewer both an instantaneous baggage of sensations, through movement choreography, music performed live and simple yet effective light effects, and a more intellectual one, loaded with questions and queries with no certain answer, with reflections from part of the three actors addressed to the audience without fable filters. The space provides few but essential elements: a coat rack and a table. Both aim to unmask the theatrical fiction in order to cancel the distance with the viewer, reinforcing the transparency between stage and audience, actors and characters, fiction and reality. On the table a light console, a pc and a microphone. Everything is handled live by the actors. Everything happens in the here and now but also in an undefined distant space and time.
