Centro di Documentazione del Festival dei Due Mondi
The Documentation Center of Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, housed in the spaces of "Casa Menotti," stands as a sign of continuity between past and present, and gives form and context to audio, video and photographic material related to the editions of the Festival from 1958, the year of its founding to the present. This material has been collected over the years by Comune di Spoleto, the Foundation Festival dei Due Mondi and the Monini Foundation, which has digitized it and made it usable.
The Monini Foundation was established with the intention of making Casa Menotti a treasure chest of memory.
The birth of the Festival dei Due Mondi Documentation Center marks a close collaboration between the Monini Foundation, the Festival dei Due Mondi Foundation and Comune di Spoleto, which has included the Center--open to the public free of charge--in the prestigious Museum Circuit of the city of Spoleto.
It is a place that can be used all year round, suitable to different levels of visiting and exploring. The history of the Festival, the figure of Maestro Gian Carlo Menotti, and the Festival's connection between the city of Spoleto and the international cultural context find space there. Through a multimedia and interactive set-up, the main themes related to Festival dei Due Mondi and its founder are presented.
The visitor has the opportunity to enjoy content and documentary material of high historical, cultural and artistic value, and can interact with them by following a path through the various floors of the house. The visitor will be able to relive, through the use of theatrical sets revisited in a high-tech and multimedia key, the atmospheres of the Festival: music, dance, theater, scripts, internationality to confrontation, familiar faces, shots of timeless emotions selected and collected in an interactive path.
Monini Award
A Window on the Two Worlds
A traditional appointment for the Festival, the Monini Prize "Una Finestra sui Due Mondi" is now in its 12th edition. Established by the Monini family in 2010, the award is presented from Maria Flora and Zefferino Monini to nationally and globally renowned artists, along with a "special prize" dedicated to young emerging talents present at the Festival. This year the award is given on July 8, to Massimo Recalcati, psychoanalyst, essayist, writer, who is present at Festival dei Due Mondi as a playwright with Amen. The "Youth" Award goes to French-Albanian pianist Marie-Ange Nguci (July 4). The awardees greet the audience from the window of Casa Menotti, just as Gian Carlo Menotti, founder of the Festival, used to do.
