Sol LeWitt / Anna Mahler
The Fondazione Carla Fendi presents for Spoleto64 Festival dei Due Mondi Art & Science Into Spoleto, Sol LeWitt/Anna Mahler a project that explores a little-known reality of the area. The focus is on the two artists, who lived from the 1960s to the 1980s to Spoleto, and who drew inspiration for their works from the city. Sol LeWitt was one of the leading exponents of minimalism and Anna Mahler, the daughter of Gustav and Alma Mahler Schindler, a sculptor who inherited the creative gene. Both stayed to Spoleto for long periods in their homes and left evidence of their creativity here. The same creativity that today is carried out on the territory from Mahler & LeWitt Studios: residences created already from some years ago by the heirs Marina Mahler and Caroll LeWitt, intended to host artists from from all over the world, and which Fondazione Carla Fendi opens for the first time to the public in the Exploring Art itinerary.
Art but also Science. In line with the new interest to this area that Fondazione Carla Fendi develops from some seasons, the link between Art and Science is highlighted. Two cultures in the mirror, brought together as part of the illustrative performance of the entire project hosted on Sunday, June 27 at the Teatro Caio Melisso Spazio Carla Fendi, the city's oldest theater restored over the years by the Foundation.
