The Region of Umbria organizes from 24 years Umbrialibri to characterize the promotion of culture and reading in Umbria and enhance regional publishing.
The particularity of Umbrialibri consists in the strong connection between national and regional cultural production, with the full involvement of Umbrian publishers, in the dual role of exhibitors and cultural promoters of their own publications. The second element that characterizes the event is the identification, for each edition, of a theme around to which the program of initiatives is articulated: lectures, comparisons, debates and conferences, as well as book presentations and projects, to which are called to to participate by prestigious names from the academic and journalistic world, writers and critics, scholars and intellectuals of national and international importance.
Umbrian publishing, within each edition of Umbrialibri, is the protagonist of an exhibition-market that allows to fully grasp the general physiognomy of the sector, as well as the peculiar characters of each publisher. There are more than 40 exhibitors involved.
"The Curation of Ideas" will be the main theme of Umbrialibri 2018, which will take place to Perugia, from friday 5 to Sunday, Oct. 7, in the St. Peter's Monumental Complex.
Among the many notable initiatives was the awarding of the first edition of the national literary prize Opera Prima "Severino Cesari," named after the great Umbrian intellectual, one of the most important Italian editors of recent decades.
Umbrialibri 2018 is hosted by Festival dei Due Mondi with an extraordinary edition of the Umbrian publishing exhibition-market in the Town Hall Square during the second weekend of the festival.
