“CYBERBULLISMO: MAI PIÙ VITTIME”
The "Paolo Ettorre - Socially Correct" Association was founded in 2008 to witness Paolo Ettorre's dedication to social communication, with the aim of implementing projects that increase social responsibility through advertising and events.
The Socially Correct contest gives to art and communication students the opportunity to participate as creative pairs, measuring their talents by creating campaigns on important and often difficult social issues. The winning campaign will give the creative pair the opportunity to intern in the creative department of Saatchi & Saatchi agency. Cyberbullying is the theme of the 11th edition of the contest held in collaboration with the Directorate General for Students, Integration and Participation of the Ministry of Education, University and Research.
Cyberbullying, or offensive, disrespectful, and/or violent episodes from by other teens via the Internet or cell phone is the cause of many young victims who often make desperate acts moved from by a distorted perception of reality.
A number of key factors contribute to the phenomenon: a total lack of control of the web from by parents and the use from by adolescents of an all-powerful tool without having the ability to manage it properly. In teens, the unawareness of the real harm that is caused is because there is no perceptual maturity and it is easy to pass from an innocent post to something exploitable and uncontrollable in size. In cyberbullying there is an asymmetry between victim and perpetrator in which the former is totally helpless and passive, while the latter feels omnipotent, hiding behind anonymity or false nickname and "plays" to targeting his peers.
The goal of the contest is to carry out an awareness and prevention campaign to reduce the 22.3 percent of Italian teens who are bullied online, making it clear that "when you bully the weakest, you are the most cowardly."
