Napoli e i suoi colori in musica jazz
... The ensemble's jazz-like repertoire will touch on most of the expressions and changes that have characterized African-American music since the beginning of the last century, offering some of the finest pages of orchestral jazz literature (Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie). Priority will be given to elaborations by contemporary arrangers from the American area (Sammy Nestico, Don Sebesky, Bob Mintzer).
There will also be performances of songs belonging to Latin and Funk styles, as well as re-readings of standards from the Neapolitan and Italian traditions to by conductor Antonio Solimene.

The Tribunal Mist Jazz Band was born to Naples in 1991 and is composed from twenty-one elements between musicians-professionals and professionals-musicians, all united by pure passion for music and in particular for jazz. The creator, artistic director, musician and "soul" of the band is Lawyer Paolo Pannella and the conductor is M°Antonio Solimene.
The Tribunal Mist Jazz Band has performed in several Neapolitan and Roman venues and important theaters such as the Augusteo and Bellini in Naples. Notable were performances in the Magne Halls of the prestigious Universities "La Sapienza" in Rome and "Federico II" in Naples, in the courtyard of the Palace of Justice-Castelcapuano in Naples, the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and the La Palma jazz club in Rome. Numerous concerts were held to Naples: in the harbor, in the courtyard of the Royal Palace and in Piazza S. Domenico Maggiore. The Tribunal Mist Jazz Band, since 1996, has been on the annual jazz bill of the legendary Parisian jazz temple "Le petit journal." In 2002 the concert at the Savoy circle for the presentations of the anthem composed by lawyer Pannella for the Mascalzone latino boat that will participate in the America's cup. In March of the same year, the orchestra landed to New York for a tour that touched, in addition to some important jazz clubs, the United Nations theater. In the year 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, the Tribunal Mist Jazz Band is called by the organizers of Umbria Jazz reconfirming again for this year, to perform to Perugia for the Jazz Festival alongside artists such as Jarret, Corea, Galliano etc. In the year 2008 she performed at the Casa del Jazz to Rome, at Festival dei Due Mondi to Spoleto. Considerable were the "jam-sessions" with French and American bands as well as collaborations with national and international artists such as Stephane Grappelli, Lew Soloff, Gorge Masso, Maxime Saury, Paolo Fresu, Lucio Dalla, Stefano Bollani, Mariapia De Vito, Pietro Condorelli, Marcello Rosa, Dino Piana and Massimo Moriconi, Peppino di Capri, Marco Zurzolo, Angela Luce and Massimo Ranieri.
In the year 2000 the band recorded its first CD _Napoli Standard _classical and modern Neapolitan songs, arranged by Maestro Solimene with a spirit of rewriting and not just "varnishing" that surprises with references to Cuban and Latin music, and revives the classics: Tammurriata nera, Accarezzame, O' Sarracino.
In the year 2005 the second album entitled Notes Authorized was released with all unreleased tracks except for the mix Vecchio Frac\Libertango whose constituent pieces as is well known are by Domenico Modugno and Astor Piazzolla and Arrivederci by Umberto Bindi. The songs were written from authors of great depth, well pleased to have "authorized" the creative interpretations of their themes made by the Tribunal Mist Jazz Band, from hence the polysense title of the unreleased album.
To celebrate the group's first 20 years, the Tribunal Mist Jazz Band records its third CD entitled: Piedigrotta e...dintorni. The idea stems from the need to revive the spectacular Neapolitan musical tradition, (the Piedigrotta), rediscovering its popular matrix, revisited in a jazz key.
Vast would have been the repertoire but, the choice focused on a few songs including Palummella, Santa Lucia Luntana, Scapricciatiello and others. These compositions, best express the popular sentiment of "that feast" that became the cradle of a Neapolitan song, entrusted to the diffusion of the "copielle" and the living singing approval of the people, before the merciless merchandising of radio and discography.
Passion and study are the ingredients of happiness for the Tribunal Mist Jazz Band.
