The Spoleto State Archives Section continues its research into the origins of Festival dei Due Mondi. Through a conference, a book, and an exhibition, extraordinary moments of history are traced to reread the origins of the event.
The lecture, with the authors of the volume is included among the special events of Festival dei Due Mondi in the "Cultivating Memory" format.
The exhibition "Spoleto 1963, the Sixth Festival dei Due Mondi", to curated by the Spoleto State Archives Section, is set up on the premises of the archival institution (Largo G. Ermini, 1), which can be visited from June/July until September 30, 2023.
The volume "Spoleto 1963, the sixth Festival dei Due Mondi. Luchino Visconti, Jerome Robbins, Eugène Jonesco, Thomas Schippers, Franca Fabbri: big names, new talent, a new theater space but fewer performances. In Search of Resources," published thanks to the contribution of Fondazione "Francesca, Valentina and Luigi Antonini" and with the support of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto, features a preface by Camillo Corsetti Antonini, president of Fondazione "Francesca, Valentina and Luigi Antonini," an introduction by Cinzia Rutili, director of the State Archives of Perugia, and is divided into four chapters: Festival dei Due Mondi 1963. Protagonists and Performances by Moreno Cerquetelli; Spoleto '63 Told by the NY Times and the Foreign Press by Marco Rambaldi; Spoleto 1963, the City and the Festival by Antonella Cristina Manni; The 1963 Festival in the Documents of the Spoleto State Archives Section by Paolo Bianchi.
