SPOLETO FESTIVAL. PROTAGONISTS OF CHANGE
Recognition intended for personalities whose works and thought support the progress of civilization.
Montblanc is participating as a partner in the next edition of Spoleto′s Festival dei 2Mondi, thus renewing its support for culture and art in all its forms.
As part of this event of excellence, the Maison bestows an award on the Festival′s Artistic Director , Giorgio Ferrara.
Montblanc awards Ferrara for its commitment and continuity in making this Festival a landmark in the international arts scene.
His artistic leadership has enabled the continuity and renewal of this extraordinary cultural legacy founded from Gian Carlo Menotti, the first Italian winner, in 1995, of the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award, the prize given by the Maison to modern patrons since 1992.
The Maison will donate to Giorgio Ferrara the fountain pen symbolizing the dissemination and protection of culture: the Patron of Art Maecenas.
It′s been since 1992 that Montblanc has paid tribute to history′s most important patrons, who have distinguished themselves through their passion for art and culture, with the from writing instrument collection Patron of Art.
This year, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the famous edition, Montblanc pays tribute to to the man who gave birth to the very concept of patronage: Gaius Cilnius Maecenas.
The design of this limited edition is inspired by the life and period of this great charismatic figure. The body of the fountain pen in marbled lacquer redesigns the columns of Roman temples; on the cap we find the first verses of the Ode to Maecenas composed from Horace; laurel crowns and the name of the great Roman patron are engraved on the silver trim. Completing the unique style of the fountain pen are the to clip in the shape of a Roman gladio and the base of the cone that reproduces an ancient Roman coin depicting it.
The 18K gold nib is engraved with the numbering MMXI, the 20th anniversary year of the from writing instrument collection Patron of Art.
