PREMIO SPECIALE a Benedetta Torre
The Monini Prize "Una Finestra sui Due Mondi," now in its ninth edition, has become a traditional event of the Festival. Established by the Monini Family in 2010, the award is presented, as from tradition, from Maria Flora and Zefferino Monini to nationally and globally renowned artists, along with a "Special Award" dedicated to young emerging talents present at the Festival. This year the award is given to to Victoria Thierrée Chaplin, creator and director of the show Bells and Spells, and to young Benedetta Torre, soprano in the inauguralOpera Minotaur and the dramatic Oratorio Giovanna d'Arco al rogo.
The award winners will greet the Festival audience from the window of Casa Menotti, just as Maestro Gian Carlo Menotti, founder of the Festival, used to do. A historic site and former home of the composer, Casa Menotti is now managed by the Monini Foundation and is home to the Documentation Center of Festival dei Due Mondi.
