The "European Community" Competition for Young Opera Singers is one of the most important competitions to international level. Winners are admitted to to attend a two-year Debut Training Course and then be engaged in the Spoleto and Umbria Experimental Opera Season.

Many of the most celebrated leading opera singers on the international scene have won the Spoleto Competition in the past, including Cesare Valletti, Franco Corelli, Antonietta Stella, Ettore Bastianini, Giangiacomo Guelfi, Anita Cerquetti, Renato Bruson, Ruggero Raimondi, Leo Nucci, Marcella Pobbe, Mariella Devia, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Lucia Aliberti, Elizabeth Norberg Schulz, Norma Fantini, Sonia Ganassi, Daniela Barcellona, Cinzia Forte, Marina Comparato, Micaela Carosi, Nicola Ulivieri, Fabio Maria Capitanucci, Roberto De Candia and in recent years Andrea Carè, Simone Piazzola, Maria Agresta and Veronica Simeoni.

The artists who will perform in the concert "Oh de' verd'anni miei," accompanied on the piano by M° Francesco Massimi and M° Yuna Saito, are the winners of the 2013 edition of the Spoleto European Singing Competition, whose Jury was chaired by the famous soprano Lella Cuberli and composed from Antonina Boneva-teacher at the Conservatory of Sofia, M° Luis Alva-tenor and teacher of the courses of the Academy Teatro alla Scala in Milan, M° Sergey Evtushenko-composer and Artistic Director of the Music Academy of the Hermitage Museum in San Pietroburgo, Prof. Enrico Girardi-music critic of the "Corriere della Sera" and professor of musicological disciplines at the Catholic University of Milan and Brescia, by M° Carlo Donadio-representative of the Artistic Direction of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome and M° Michelangelo Zurletti-Artistic Director of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto.

Key faculty members of the 2013 Avviamento al Debutto Course include soprano Lella Cuberli, baritone Renato Bruson, and directors Giorgio Bongiovanni and Sandra De Falco.

The Concert will be presented from Andrea Penna, one of the voices of Rai Radio3 Suite, who is well acquainted with the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto having been its press officer a few years ago.

ANNALISA FERRARINI

He won the 67th edition of the "European Community" Competition for Young Opera Singers 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "to. Belli" taking first place by obtaining a score of 8.90.

She was born to Reggio Emilia in 1982. He graduated from the Boito Conservatory in Parma, where he continued to to perfect his skills under the guidance of soprano Lucetta Bizzi.

He participated to numerous master classes held from famous singers such as Fiorenza Cedolins, Marco Berti, Amarilli Nizza and Elisabetta Fiorillo.

She represented Italy in the tour of the World Youth Choir in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland and performed with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Choir conducted from Zubin Mehta. She has also worked for the Choirs of the Theaters of Modena, Parma and Piacenza.

She is a finalist in the National Arts Prize to Turin and to Lecce and has been awarded twice in the City of Deiva Marina Opera Competition. She won the Valerio Gentile International Opera Singing Prize.

He has graced prestigious stages including those of the Teatro Regio in Parma, the Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce, the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara and the Teatro Sociale in Trento, covering various roles from both the operatic tradition and contemporary composers. He has also explored the vocal repertoire from camera venturing into Lieder, songs, chansons and canciones.

It will debut in the 67th Spoleto and Umbria Experimental Opera Season in September and October.


CHIARA ISOTTON

He won the 67th edition of the 2013 "European Community" Competition for Young Opera Singers of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "to. Belli" finishing in fourth place and getting a score of 8.14.

Born to Belluno in 1985. Undertakes the study of singing with Elena Filini at the school "to. Miari" of Belluno and then continued at the "Benedetto Marcello" Conservatory of Venice where she graduated under the guidance of M° Stefano Gibellato. He continued his specialization with M° William Matteuzzi and currently with M° Roberto Scandiuzzi. In 2008 he attended courses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena with M° Renato Bruson. In June 2009 he won a scholarship at the XXXIX edition of the International Competition "Toti dal Monte" in Treviso and attended a master class on Haydn's "La Vera Costanza" with Regina Resnik. He attended a course at the Municipal Theater of Treviso held from various teachers, including Maria Chiara and Roberto Scandiuzzi. Also with M° Scandiuzzi he participates to a master class in the summer of 2010 to Santander at the UIMP.

In 2012 he won the "Barioni Prize" at the III International Opera Competition "City of Ferrara," in 2009 the second prize at the International Competition "Velluti" in Riviera del Brenta (VE), in 2005 of the first prize at the National Competition for Young Opera Singers "Anna Veloce d'Ettore" in Ravenna, and in 2007 the first prize at the International Music Competition from Chamber "Davorin Jenko" in Belgrade.

She is Fiordispina in Cimarosa's L'impresario in angustie (in collaboration with the Venice Biennale), Sandrina in Piccinni's La Cecchina, ossia la buona figliola at the Malibran Theater in Venice, Albina in Galuppi's La Calamita dé Cuori (Galuppi Festival in Venice).

She plays the role of Emilia in La stanza terrena by to. Miari, staged at the Teatro Comunale in Belluno, Mimì in La bohème at the Auditorium Steffanini in Treviso, Violetta in La Traviata and Contessa in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Comunale in Belluno and the Teatro "Cantero" in Chiavari (GE).

He also performs an intense concert activity of both sacred music and opera recitals in collaboration with orchestral ensembles, pianists, vocal groups, and ensembles.

It will debut to Spoleto and Umbria as part of the 2013 Experimental Opera Season.


CHIARA MARGARITO

She is the winner of the 2013 European Singing Competition of the Spoleto Experimental Opera Theater "to. Belli" obtaining a score of 8.04 and finishing sixth.

Born to Pescara in 1986. She graduated in singing in 2013 with top honors from the "Bruno Maderna" Conservatory of Cesena, under the guidance of Rossella Marcantoni.

She currently continues to perfecting her skills at the Maria Malibran International Music Academy in Altidona, again under the guidance of Mrs. Marcantoni.

He has an intense concert activity to his credit.

He won the 15th Valerio Gentile International Competition in the city of Fasano and the 5th Amandola International Singing Festival Competition.

It will debut in the 67th Spoleto and Umbria Experimental Opera Season in September and October.


FRANCESCA BILIOTTI

She is the winner of the 2013 European Singing Competition of the Spoleto Experimental Opera Theater "to. Belli" obtaining a score of 8.64 and finishing second.

Born to Venice in 1982. She obtained her Level I academic diploma at the G. Cantelli Conservatory of Novara. She is deepening her study of Baroque and Rossini repertoire with contralto Sara Mingardo and contralto Bernadette Manca di Nissa.

She is a finalist of the "V International Opera Singing Competition Ravello city of Music" (2009) and winner of the "International Competition Opera Rinata" (2009). In 2010 she participated in the Spiros Argiris International Competition where she received a scholarship to attend a European master class with Luis Alva, Raina Kabaivanska and Giuseppe Sabbatini. In 2012 she won First Prize at the "Francesco Albanese" Lyric Competition in Torre del Greco, was a finalist in the "La città sonora" Competition in Cinisello Balsamo (MI) and winner of the "Best Mezzosoprano" award at the "Franca Mattiucci" Competition in Canelli (AT).

She participated in the Mantua Music Festival and performed in J.S.Bach's Passion according to Matthew to Verbania, Novara, Vercelli and Biella. She participated from 2005 to 2009 in the Musical Season "Spring in Music" of the city of Arona. He collaborated with the Camerata dei Laghi performing to Milan, Bormio, Lecco, Verbania and Varese.

Of the 20th-century repertoire, he performed Martucci's lyrics at the National Conference of Martucci Studies (2009) and Stravinsky's Messa degli Schiavi at the Palazzina Liberty in Milan (2010).

She has performed in several recitals both in Italy and to Tokyo (Music for Youth, Cascade Hall, Okayama Lutheran Church).

Last February she debuted the role of Isabella with the Teatro Nuovo di Torino in a production of Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri in several theaters in Piedmont.

It will make its debut in the 67th Experimental Opera Season of Spoleto and Umbria in September and October.

EDOARDO MILLETTI

He won the 66th edition of the 2012 "European Community" Competition for Young Opera Singers of the Spoleto Experimental Opera Theater "to. Belli" placing second with a score of 8.49.

He was born in Assisi and began his opera studies at a very young age with Carmen Gonzales. In the summer of 2008 he made his theatrical debut in the concert/recital "Carnet de Notes" by and with actress Franca Valeri at Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, with replicas in Italian theaters such as the Sociale to Mantua, the Mancinelli in Orvieto and the Comet to Rome. In December 2008 he debuted Handel's "Messiah" in the Basilica of St. Peter to Perugia. In 2009 he sings Ariel Ramirez's "Misa Criolla" to Rotterdam (Hoflaankerk) and to Neuwerkerk in the Netherlands. In October 2009 he joined the School of theOpera Italian Teatro Comunale in Bologna, performing at the Teatro Comunale as Ein Sklave and II Nazzareno in R. Strauss' "Salome" with M° Nicola Luisotti and directed by Gabriele Lavia, holding a Bachian concert under the baton of M° Roberto Polastri and in the summer taking part to two diptychs of operettas by Offenbach, playing Gustave, M. Balandard and Babylas in "Pomme d'Api" and Monsieur Choufleuri. He is a finalist and winner of important mentions at the Competition for Young Opera Singers "P. Mongini" - Prize for the best tenor voice, at the Lyric Competition "B. Franci" - Prize and mention inducted from StageDoor. In December 2010 he gave his first of five recitals in Tunisia at the Dar Sebastian Opera Festival in Hammamet, with the collaboration of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. In 2011 he is Nick in "La fanciulla del West" at the Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce, and in the same year he performs Haendel's "La Resurrezione" in the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano to Rome, live on TV2000. He debuted to Spoleto the role of Alfredo in G. Verdi's "La Traviata" and Macacco in Vincenzo Legrenzio Ciampi's "La favola dei tre gobbi" as part of the 2012 Experimental Opera Season.


ALEC ROUPEN AVEDISSIAN

He won the 67th "European Community" Competition for Young Opera Singers 2013 of the Spoleto Experimental Opera Theater "to. Belli" placing third with a score of 8.54.

He was born to Ruse, Bulgaria in 1982. He graduated from the Sofia Music Academy and perfected his studies with Alexandrina Milcheva.

He has received numerous awards including first prize in the International Schubert Competition in Ruse and the Haydn Competition in Sofia, as well as to being a finalist in the Toulouse Singing Competition taking part in the final concert conducted from Jacques Lacombe. He is later a finalist in the International Opera Competition in Marseille, winner of the International Lied Competition in Sofia and receives a mention in the 5th International Opera Competition in San Pietroburgo. He is a recent finalist of the International Schumann Competition to Zwickau, Germany.

He attended the Centre National d Artistes Lyriques to Marseille for three years, took master classes with renowned artists such as Sona Ghazarian, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Tom Krause and studied at the Sir George Solit Academy with Dame Kiri te Kanawa and Federica von Stade.

He performed in concerts and recitals in Bulgaria, Russia, Austria and France (theaters d'opera in Toulouse, Marseille, Avignon). He tackled his first operatic roles performing in Bulgaria in the roles of Dottor Malatesta(Don Pasquale) and Belcore(L'elisir d'amore) and in France in the roles of Montano(Otello), Fiorello(Il barbiere di Siviglia), Schaunard(La bohème).

It will debut to Spoleto and Umbria during the upcoming Season of the Spoleto Experimental Opera Theater "to. Belli."


FRANCESCO SALVADORI

He is the winner of the 2013 European Singing Competition of the Spoleto Teatro Lirico Sperimentale "to. Belli" obtaining a score of 8.02 and finishing in seventh place.

Born to Siena in 1985, after studying piano and solfeggio privately, he undertook the study of singing at the "L. Cherubini" Conservatory in Florence under the guidance of Donatella Debolini.

He initially devoted himself particularly to the study of the Mozart repertoire, later debuting the roles from protagonist in all the operas of the famous trilogy on the librettos of Lorenzo from Ponte: Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva and Guglielmo. He later devoted himself to studying the operas of Rossini and Donizetti. He also has the opportunity to debut minor roles in operas by such composers as Verdi, Puccini, R. Strauss and Menotti.

On these occasions he has collaborated with a number of conductors and directors including Böer, Shambadal, Boccadoro, Menegatti, Knabe, Torrigiani, Garosi, Ciardi, Di Muro, Lombardo, Chologlu, Veleno, Nemack and Di Lieto.

He cultivates an intense concert activity, also devoting himself to sacred and Baroque music and performing Fauré's Requiem, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and Mozart's Requiem .

He participated for two consecutive years in the "Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte di Montepulciano," playing the role of Ottavio in Mauro Montalbettim'sopera unpublished Brimborium, a role in which he still stars at the Teatro Grande in Brescia under the direction of Barbara Di Lieto and conducted by Carlo Boccadoro.

It will debut to Spoleto and Umbria as part of the upcoming Season organized by Spoleto's Teatro Lirico Sperimentale "to. Belli."


DAVID GIANGREGORIO

He won the 67th edition of the "European Community" Competition for Young Opera Singers 2013 of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "to. Belli" finishing in fifth place and getting a score of 8.09.

Born to Benevento in 1989. She undertakes the study of opera singing with baritone Gioacchino Zarrelli and is specializing with mezzo-soprano Chiara Chialli. He graduated in singing from the "Nicola Sala" Conservatory of Benevento, where he also earned a lower diploma in organ and organ composition and where he is earning a diploma in piano.

He participated as a soloist to operas and concerts: I convivati di pietra, ossia il mito di Don Giovanni all ' opera at the Museo del Sannio in Benevento; L'agonia di nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, oratorio by Carmine Giordano; Il pesceolino freddoloso diventa re, musical fable by Gaudiello; Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia (Don Basilio) at the Teatro Comunale in Benevento and the Teatro della Reggia in Caserta; Cimarosa's La finta parigina (Cardillo) at the Teatro Trianon Viviani in Naples.

He attended the Singing Academy "Giovani all'Opera 2012" coordinated from Natale De Carolis, later performing at the 51st Stresa Festival in the role of Don Basilio in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia.

He participated in the LTL Opera Studio internship at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa with teachers Marcello Lippi, Alberto Paloscia, Matteo Beltrami and Fabio Sparvoli.

He was recently admitted to the 2013 Accademia Rossiniana.

It will debut to Spoleto and Umbria as part of the upcoming Season organized by Spoleto's Teatro Lirico Sperimentale "to. Belli."


FRANCESCO MASSIMI

He graduated to 19 years old with top marks from the "Gesualdo from Venosa" Conservatory of Potenza under the guidance of Maestro Lucio Grimaldi, immediately participating as a soloist in important events.

In 2002 he graduated from the Professional Training Course for Maestro Collaboratore at the Spoleto Experimental Opera Theater "to. Belli", thanks to which he has the opportunity to deepen the aspects of piano and vocal, chamber and symphonic musical interpretation.

For the Spoleto Institution he conducted the instrumental ensemble in the performance of two melologues Pietra e Distacco (2007) directed by Giorgio Pressburger, in Niccolò Jommelli's Don Falcone (2008) and in Giuseppe Sigismondi's Il Cuoco e la Madama (2009).

Fundamental to his artistic journey is his meeting with M° Federico Maria Sardelli, with whom he worked as assistant and harpsichordist in the ensemble "Modo Antiquo."

In 2011, in addition to to holding the position of maestro concertatore at the harpsichord, he edited the revision and transcription of two eighteenth-century intermezzos by Antonio Caldara(Pipa e Barlafuso) and Leonardo Leo(La Zingaretta), a new production of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto. The following year, again for the Lirico di Spoleto, he transcribed La Favola dei Tre Gobbi, two intermezzos by Vincenzo Legrenzio Ciampi with a libretto by Carlo Goldoni, later also conducting the orchestral ensemble.

He studies composition and conducting. He also collaborates with the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "to.Belli" as a collaborating maestro and teacher of the Avviamento al Debutto Course for Young Opera Singers.


YUNA SAITO

A Japanese from Akita, after her high school studies she graduated in 2012 with a degree in Musicology from Tokyo University of Arts. She was later admitted to the Conservatory "to. Boito" of Parma in the Piano Accompaniment and Collaboration class of Prof. Raffaele Cortesi.

In 2013 he won a scholarship at CUBEC-Academia di Belcanto to Modena under the guidance of Mirella Freni and Paola Molinari, also collaborating with the "Luciano Pavarotti" Theater in Modena.

He attended master classes held from Enza Ferrari at the Parma Conservatory and from Tiziana Ducati at Nagoya Grandcreer (Aichi).

She was a prizewinner at the 6th Tokyo Czech Music Competition and the 19th Omagari Festival Competition.

He has collaborated in numerous opera productions presented at Tokyo's Theater X, Matsudo Auditorium and Sagamihara Auditorium. He recently played "Parsifal" at the Ridotto of the Teatro Regio in Parma as part of the "Prima che s'alzi il sipario" festival and accompanied a concert by Mirella Freni's students at the Circolo "Mario Del Monaco" in Modena.

Selected by the Artistic Direction of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto "to. Belli" collaborates with the Umbrian institution as part of the Avviamento al Debutto Course for Young Opera Singers.


ANDREA PEN

Andrea Penna was born in 1970 to Rome where he pursued piano studies and graduated.

Since 1997 he has worked as a promoter, cultural organizer, press office. Contributes to music magazines and newspapers; publications include essays in Studi Romani and a biography of G. F. Haendel for Skira.

He is one of the hosts of Rai - Radio 3 Suite.

He has collaborated in the past as press officer with the Spoleto Experimental Opera House "to.Belli".
