Mons. Marco Frisina
La vita in musica di San Filippo Neri
St. Philip Neri is the saint of joy, irony, love of God and brothers lived on the wings of lightness and at the same time he is the saint who embodies and teaches the very great demands of the Gospel. For him, Jesus is the friend and at the same time our Savior, he is the playmate and at the same time the sublime example from to follow, the One who traces the difficult path of love until to reaching the supreme sacrifice of the Cross. For Philip Neri, however, this path must be walked by singing, one can walk with Christ with a light and pure heart, making even penance simple and joyful because it is lived out of love. Paradise , Paradise is an "oratory" in the sense proper to St. Philip Neri. In fact, it was he to who invented this sacred musical genre, capable of bringing together the Word of God and the lives of the saints by rereading them with the help of music and song. The joy of living the Gospel was thus transformed for Philip into a song of praise made of life and joy. The anecdotes that the Filipino tradition has given us are imbued with this joy, with a simple and surprising comedy, with a deep happiness that illuminates even the most difficult and painful moments. Philip can still give us back the desire to smile and look at life with eyes full of sky, he invites us to smile and to fly without being overwhelmed by the sadness of the world. The "oratorio" will alternate musical and sung pieces with the reading of anecdotes from the Saint's life: from his arrival to Rome to his death, passing through his pranks and miracles, with the same lightness that marked his extraordinary life.Msgr.
