Maurizio Mochetti - L'uccello azzurro
Maurizio Mochetti is the artist of the new dimension of art, determined by its confluence with scientific progress and by the fact thatopera becomes an unsuspected technological event.
The electronic revolution that to took great strides to conquer the airwaves of the last two decades - cellular telephony, e-mail, laser beams, lightning communications - could not leave the art world indifferent. Since 1968, forty years ago, Mochetti has been on the cutting edge in this regard often with an almost divinatory result. In that year, in his first solo exhibition at Gian Tomasso Liverani's Galleria La Salita he presented ten projects in which the mental analysis of a visual experience was addressed for the first time. to presenting that exhibition was Marisa Volpi, who wrote the first critical text on the young debutant's work. Mochetti's path was from then lucid and consistently futuristic. At the 1988 Biennale, directed from Giovanni Carandente, he was present with a spectacular solo room, alongside to those of Kounellis and Marisa Merz. His solo shows have followed one another all over the world, and the last one that produced a monographic volume with Germano Celant's fine critical text was last year to Sassuolo in that Ducal Palace, ordered by Superintendent Filippo Trevisani. Since 2003 Mochetti has been teaching in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Rome.
The exhibition to Spoleto, commissioned from Giovanni Carandente, presents a chronological set of the design development of the artist'sopera inserted in the rooms of the noble apartment of the Palazzo Collicola, a beautiful challenge between historical antique and modern electronic.
