Letture poetiche - Benché il parlar sia indarno...
Also this year "Spoleto Idee" intends to represent, alongside the artistic events of the Festival, a small space for reflection, almost a metaphorical, subdued, counterpoint, aimed to at reaffirming the substantial unity of every aspect of that elusive thing we call culture. Between a'opera lyric and a poem, between a play and and a page of philosophy, the forms of expression change but equal is the tension of thoughts, feelings, images and passions that they imply and arouse. Equal is the desire to go beyond immediacy, to give voice to a human "other."
Poetry and reflection on the most looming contemporaneity will be at the center of the program of "Spoleto Ideas" in this edition.

RISORGIMENTO
A small tribute to the Unification of Italy, whose 150th anniversary, as is well known, is about to strike, a syllogue of poems having as their theme our Risorgimento. It will be an opportunity to hear echoing the ancient sound of verses heard most of the time the first time in distant classrooms, but also an opportunity to grasp - as we were then perhaps unable to to do - the authentic patriotic emptiness and high civic dignity, if you will also the naiveté, of well-known and lesser-known poets who got Italians involved in the struggle for their country's freedom and independence.

NOVECENTO
A selection of poems on civil and political subjects from our twentieth-century Canzoniere. from Pascoli to Ungaretti, from Montale to Pasolini, the strong vocation for politics of Italian literati is also confirmed in their poetic evidence, offering the cue more than once for unexpected discoveries.
