Listening to the stories of Bosnian, Serbian and Kosovar women who have lost loved ones, we realized that their lives are inhabited from a constant presence. The presence of absence, the presence of those who are no longer there.
History teaches us that the only way to heal a society from the atrocities it has experienced is to go through the painful but inevitable effort of telling the truth. Within the countries of the Former Yugoslavia, this journey of reconciliation has not yet been completed. The show was born precisely out of a desire to make a contribution by inviting families who have lived through such experiences to to speak about it publicly, and thanks also to this, find a way to resume their lives.

"Stories are our way of remembering and forming judgments. And perhaps because they touch the heart, stories point the way to forgiveness and understanding. Through stories we can experience the terrible and noble aspects of what happened, we can put names to faces, give meaning to places and events, grasp the sense of humanity of victims and perpetrators, relive the events of history in their most fearsome details."
