DUE MONDI DI MUSICA
Concerto per Gian Carlo Menotti
Known worldwide as the founder and soul of Festival dei Due Mondi Spoleto, Gian Carlo Menotti was also one of the greatest composers and librettists of the 20th century. Multi-awarded for his Operas and for all his extremely rich artistic activity, he represented a human and stylistic reference point for a type of musical sensibility open to all languages and dedicated to a wider fruition.
to this sensibility and the memory of the figure of Menotti inspired Fabrizio De Rossi Re to create A Song Between Heaven and Earth for GCM, in which the cultural dualism at the origin of the Spoleto Festival is interpreted in the sense of a metaphysical impetus.
Cinema, through its music, also made itself a great interpreter of the same relational dimension between Italian tradition and American creative dynamism that Gian Carlo Menotti's experience interpreted.
Champions of the extraordinary and exciting dimension that is music for film, this program presents the music of Rota, Piovani and Morricone, the most interesting and beloved Italian composers for film united by the peculiarity of all being winners of the Academy Award for Best Score.
Italians, such as Gian Carlo Menotti, who contributed significantly to to building the solid and fertile artistic bond that unites in a mutual and constant enrichment the Two Worlds.
