“AZZARDOPATIA. QUANDO IN GIOCO C’È LA VITA”
Debate on DGA (Disorder from Gambling) at the award ceremony of the 12th Socially Correct competition, to edited by the association 'Paolo Ettorre-Socially Correct" in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Saatchi & Saatchi
The "Paolo Ettorre-Socially Correct" Association, which was established as a testament to Paolo Ettorre′s dedication to social communication, holds an annual contest aimed at to students taking courses in the field of communication, with the goal of developing a campaign on a social theme. The winning creative couple is rewarded with a work internship in the creative department of Saatchi & Saatchi agency.
The 12th edition of the contest, represents an opportunity to address an increasingly topical and sensitive issue: the DGA (Disorder from Gambling). This year, in fact, thanks to the collaboration with the Ministry of Health the contest, will have this theme.
It is not only a social phenomenon, but a real pathology, making one unable to resist the urge to play or make bets.
With regard to the prevalence of gambling and GAP (Pathological Gambling), according to data from a study by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (National Center for Addiction and Doping), it was found that 17 million adult Italians in the past 12 months would have gambled at least once, and of these about 700,000 would be under 18. Moreover, the phenomenon is growing as it is developing into usable forms from the Internet.
Prevention is, therefore, an essential tool for coping to with this disease, particularly in young people. Specifically, prevention must take place first in the family and then in schools. It is important, therefore, that institutions implement information initiatives aimed at increasing the perception of the risks associated with gambling.
This initiative aims to involve children as the creative focus of a communication campaign and at the same time raise awareness of the issue among a high number of students.
Based on a brief prepared by advertisers from the Saatchi & Saatchi agency, the winners created a campaign aimed at properly informing the population about the psychological and social risks of this phenomenon.
