CONCERTI DELLA SERA
a cura della Scuola di Musica di Fiesole
The Fiesole School of Music returns to the Festival, strong in the esteem and consideration the institution has earned over many years of passionate commitment to music education. The 20 concerts to curated by the Scuola di Fiesole will constitute during the Festival a double daily opportunity to "taste" chamber music. The great variety of proposals reflects the multifaceted activity of the School, where basic training and the excellence of master classes coexist, attracting talented musicians from all over the world. Privileged space of Fiesole education is from always - as advocated tenaciously by founder Piero Farulli - the chamber music repertoire, an opportunity for not only professional but also human and civic growth for young musicians. The Taag and Adorno Quartets then take turns, with two concerts and two different programs each: the classic Haydn-Mozart-Beethoven triad will be joined by works by Mendelssohn, Šostakovič, Stravinsky and von Zemlinsky. The duo takes a variety of forms, from piano to four-hands - with pieces by Schubert and Brahms - to harp ensemble, through violin, flute, oboe and cello ensembles with piano. Six talented pianists are engaged in recitals, with programs ranging from Domenico Scarlatti to the early 20th century, and a large presence of masterpieces of European Romanticism. Also, a String Trio, featuring Beethoven, and a Wind Quintet, with a composite program from Mozart to Ligeti.

This Festival dei Due Mondi, for us Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, is the Festival of All Worlds...
Pianists, violinists, violists, flutists, cellists, gambists, harpists, guitarists, from solo instrument to quartet, from ancient to modern, our musicians this year will once again set out to conquer the wonderful audiences of this jewel of Umbria.
For two weeks the School will present some 50 of its students at 25 concerts almost all dedicated to from chamber music.
Weighty feat, which expresses the School's ability to take on different challenges, if we think that immediately after the end of our concerts at Festival dei Due Mondi, the OGI, our "flagship" orchestra, will devote itself to Maestro Daniele Gatti's conducting course to Siena, while the Orchestra dei Ragazzi, to Lucca, will be brought to incandescence by Maestro Rosadini...
Bringing together, sharing by bearing witness to so many beauties: this is the commitment of our young musicians, strengthened by a tradition illustrated with so much faith and talent from by the School's founders, Maestro Piero Farulli and Dr. Adriana Verchiani.
Alain Meunier
Founded in 1974 from Piero Farulli, violist of the Italian Quartet, the Fiesole School of Music is from forty years an international point of reference, with 1,300 students, 7 orchestras, 6 choirs, 140 teachers and more than 200 musical events held each year. Extraordinary artists have made to their teaching and concert mastery available to the institution. Among others, Riccardo Muti, Salvatore Accardo, Luciano Berio, Claudio Abbado, Carlo Maria Giulini, Maria Tipo, the Trio di Trieste, Natalia Gutman, György Kurtág, Gabriele Ferro, Krzysztof Penderecki, Daniele Gatti, Pavel Vernikov, Gianandrea Noseda, Giuseppe Sinopoli. Recently accredited to award the Level I AFAM Diploma, the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole founded the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy) together with some of Europe's most prestigious music academies. Among the many collaborations are projects with the Mozarteum in Salzburg, within which the staging of Mozart's masterpiece La clemenza di Tito was realized. The activities of the School, of which Andrea Lucchesini has been Artistic Director since 2008, while Lorenzo Cinatti has been Superintendent since 2012, are made possible by the financial support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Region of Tuscany, the Province and Municipality of Florence, and the Municipality of Fiesole. Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze is an irreplaceable patron of Fiesole's projects, and numerous private individuals make to available scholarships, as Claudio Abbado had recently arranged in a gesture laden with meaning, devolving the emoluments of his office as Senator to life. Already the 1981 recipient of the Abbiati Prize as the best musical initiative, the School also received in 2005 from Carlo Azeglio Ciampi the National President of the Republic Award and from the Japan Art Association the Praemium Imperiale Grant for Young Artists in 2008.
