The Golden Tickets for Theatre Award was born on the initiative of Agis in 1984 and took place until 1997 first at the Ancient Theatre of Taormina, then at the Ancient Theatre of Taormina to Rome, at the Quirino Theatre, and finally to Parma, the Farnese Theatre and the Regio Theatre. All the editions have had wide media coverage and the participation of artists, authors and directors at the highest levels of Italian theatre. The large presence of the public was also significant. After a period of suspension, the "Golden Tickets for the Theatre" resumed for the 2007/2008 season, and took place, at the instigation of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, friday July 11th, 2008 at Teatro Romano of Spoleto, to The "Golden Tickets for the Theatre" are awarded on the basis of the number of tickets sold by theatrical performances, in the different genres and for the different types of production, distribution and exhibition companies, according to the results of the Theatre Exchange published by the Giornale dello Spettacolo, with the collaboration of Siae. Prizes are awarded according to approved rules from a committee, chaired by the Director General of Live Entertainment and made up of the Presidents of Agis, ETI, SIAE,Foundation Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto.
