The Project The Swing of the 1930s-40s, features the Army Jazz Band of the Italian Army Band, a formation composed from of 17 elements (5 Saxes, 5 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, Double Bass, Piano, Drums). Through a historical musical journey,to.J.B. offers some splendid "Swing" orchestrations of the period. Performances of the pieces are interspersed from brief introductions that emphasize the connection of the evolution of this music with the history of the African-American people. Biographies of the great protagonists of Jazz are narrated with anecdotes and background of the era. Theto.J.B. brings to life the atmosphere of the roaring years of Chicago and New York whose venues hosted the great orchestras of Jazz.
The formation composed from 17 elements (5 Saxes, 5 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, Contrabass, Piano, Drums) all orchestral members of the Italian Army Band. The band was born from the common passion for Jazz and especially from the desire to offer to the public the wonderful "Swing" orchestrations of the ´30s-´40s. The vast repertoire in the program ranges from the jazz classics of that period, passing through authors who have made the history of this genre such as D. Ellington, G. Miller, G. Gershwin, up to to more modern transcriptions always re-proposed in a swing key thus retracing the whole historical and musical scenario of those years. Theto.J.B. has performed in the Capital on several occasions. She has been a guest at various festivals and musical events at the Circolo Ufficiali in Venice, the historical museum of Pontecorvo (FR) as part of the "Music at the Museum" event, the Castle of Bracciano for the Military Medical Conference, the Ducal Palace of Modena on the occasion of the Officers' Cadets' Debutante Ball, the opening of the Jazz Festival to Stia (AR), the Theater of Città di Castello for a concert to support of the earthquake victims of Emilia Romagna, the 2012 "Margutta" award to Rome. Also in the capital she performed at Teatro Cassia and for the "S. Croce effetto notte" festival. She has to her credit collaborations with great jazz musicians of international renown, including one with Maestro Pino Jodice.
