Silvio Cattani - Ai lati della stella
As Ingo Bartsch wrote in the catalog of the exhibition "What shape does the world have" at Studio 53 in Rovereto, in 2007:
"Assuming that Silvio Cattani´s works are designed to tell us stories, are we able, devoid of interpretative suggestions, to to find immediate access to them?
Or does the complex fabric of forms and colors draw us into the play of details, fascinating us so much from that we lose sight of the essence of the overall structure?
Some form proposes itself as certain by inserting itself into recognizable image constructions that clearly facilitate the understanding of connections. But there are no rules and the forms do not always obey the logic of a civilized imaginary inventory because they reassemble themselves on paths that are always different and contrary."

born to Trento in 1947, but trained between Venice and Urbino, Silvio Cattani exhibited for the first time in his city a series of lithographs as early as 1968, participating in a group show set up to Palazzo Pretorio with six other artists from Trento.
It was precisely this year that marked the beginning of his rich public exhibition activity.
Since 1976 he has been a teacher of painting disciplines at the State Institute of Art in Trento, of which he would become director in 1984 and later, until today, director of the Rovereto Institute of Art for Graphics and Design.
The teaching, the artist´s educational activities over the years, are relevant aspects of his opera, precisely because they manifest his aptitude to experimenting with different possibilities, to wanting to communicate, pass on, leave signs, tracks.
Artist now of international prominence , has exhibited in prestigious venues in Italy and abroad, in solo and group exhibitions.
