Through the words of Massimo Osanna, director general of the Pompeii Superintendency from 2016 to 2020, and the photographic campaign of Luigi Spina, the volume is an invitation to to reflect on the extraordinary story of Pompeii, to reasoning on the multiple aspects in which the history of a place that not only marked the beginning of European archaeological research on the classical world, but above all gave inspiration to the most diverse expressions of human creativity. A place that has exercised - and continues to to do so - an unceasing fascination for endless manifestations of art and thought, from Canova to Pink Floyd and beyond.
