Studi nell'archivio dei costumi del Festival dei Due Mondi
Photographer Luis Alberto Rodriguez with set designer Afra Zamara created a series of images with some precious costumes from the recently established historical archives of Festival dei Due Mondi. Some 3,800 costumes illustrate the history of the festival's performances from the 1960s to the 2000s, paralleling the evolution of culture and fashion. Drawing on their backgrounds, one in dance and the other in set design, Rodriguez and Zamara have reinterpreted some of the costumes, tying, knotting, and overlapping them, while capturing the charm and details of the original models, but placing them in new situations from in which to explore the relationships between performance, dress, and expression of identity. Rodriguez trained as a dancer and performed around the world for fifteen years before turning to photography. Today he continues to to study body form and movement, often using the subject's body and clothing in sculptural and abstract ways.
