Synopsis

Once again this year, the Festival dei 2Mondi meets the world of schools, calling young people to rediscover a cultural identity closely connected precisely to the birth and development of the Spoleto Festival.

The festival is us, in its fourth edition, is a competition aimed to at all primary and secondary school students in the city of Spoleto.

The Places of the Festival., the theme of this year's competition, is meant to be an invitation to search for and to reconstruct the history of Festival dei Due Mondi through the places in the city where, from more than half a century, the event takes place. In fact, Spoleto, Theater City par excellence, possesses scenic spaces that seem to have been born to host the review: the Duomo and its large stage square, the luxurious Teatro Nuovo, the seventeenth-century and elegant Teatro Caio Melisso, the evocative Teatro Romano outdoors, the church of San Nicolò and its magnificent cloister, the dominating Rocca Albornoziana, the Gothic church of San Simone, the UNESCO World Heritage Longobard basilica of San Salvatore, the Auditorium della Stella, the noble palaces and its own streets permeated from a timeless charm.

The festival is us is also meant to be an opportunity to rediscover the city through stories and memories, documents and archival material, but above all an opportunity for the young people who participate to visit the city with different eyes: squares that become stages, secret places from discover, churches dedicated to the performing arts, everyday places that become special, historic monuments transformed at the hands of artists, dark cellars as precious ateliers.

The research and collection of materials should be followed by individual or group work within the class, with the help and coordination of teachers, for the creation of works of all kinds and forms-written compositions, graphic, audiovisual and digital works-which will be examined from a Jury composed of from representatives of the Foundation and Comune di Spoleto.

The award ceremony for the winners of the competition (Primary School Prize, Secondary School Prize) will be held on July 8 at Teatro Romano at at 21.00 at the International Dance Gala and will be open to all participating students and teachers.
