They are originally from the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, but their dance crosses all borders. Brazil as a whole, with all its cultural diversity, is reflected in Grupo Corpo, a dance company created in 1975 to Belo Horizonte. In a world where the speed of information is creating an increasingly homogeneous and flat landscape, this company emerges for having developed an unparalleled uniqueness of language. There are three fundamental reasons for their extraordinariness. The first is the resident choreographer, Rodrigo Pederneiras, one of the few who is able to fuse classical ballet with folk dance and at the same time give movement to the dancers' bodies while pushing them to the limits of technical rigor; the second is the wisdom with which Paulo Pederneiras transforms each choreography into an 'opera of art, directing the company, but also personalizing the set design and lighting of each production with the introduction of ever new artistic references. These include Freusa Zechmeisteir's costumes, the result of her excellent ability to convert the dancers' garments into pure movement. The third is the presence of a balanced cast of dancers: true stars of the stage, they are able to perfectly tune into each other with admirable precision. In watching Grupo Corpo dance, one has the impression of finding full to answers to all those questions that have to to do with the transition between nature and culture. All facets of Brazil, past and future, erudite and popular, foreign influences and local color, urban and suburban turn into art. Brazilian art. Art of the World.

Commissioned to celebrate Grupo Corpo's 40th anniversary, the ballet Danca Sinfonica was created on the commemorative theme proposed by its artistic director Paulo Pederneiras. Marco Antônio Guimarães, who had already collaborated with the company in 1992 for the creation 21 and in 1996 for Bach, thus composed this his first Sinfonia, which combines a sophisticated texture of new original passages with musical creations from ballets presented more recently by the group. The composition of musical themes, masterfully written for the ninety members of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Minas Gerais, combined with the musical passages interpreted by the Uatki group, from gave choreographer Rodrigo Pederneiras the opportunity to revisit the best creations in the repertoire, while offering a kind of synthesis of all theopera choreographic work carried out in more than 34 years of creative residency with the company.

Described by the choreographer himself as his "most Brazilian creation and most related to the Minas Gerais area," _Parabelo _is inspired by the most typical Brazil, as is its soundtrack composed from Tom Zé and José Miguel Wisnik.
Taking its cue from work and prayer songs, the memory of rhythmic baião and the exuberant, intricate and ever-present alternation of points and counterpoints, a choreography characterized by the continuous swaying of hips and tapping of feet comes to life. It is a fascinating statement of the full maturity of the expressive teachings that Pederneiras has developed over years of work, to begin from Missa do Orfanato and Sete ou Oito Peças para um Ballet.
In the first part of Parabelo, costume designer Freuse Zechmeister creates a play of light and shadow that "dresses" the dancers, only through the intensity of the colors revealed by the small and essential space of their from ballet shoes, while, in the explosive finale of the ballet, the tights, freed from the veil, show off their warm and joyful colors.
