Event to present the Ellen Stewart International Award, which will be given to an artist or company that has particularly distinguished itself by conducting theater that promotes social change, community participation and youth involvement.
The Award is dedicated to Ellen Stewart to celebrate her extraordinary life and commitment to theater that embraces all traditions and cultural identities. Working with young people was her great passion. She could to get them to discover their talents, to convey strength and confidence in their possibilities, to inspire them to become protagonists of personal and social change through theater. This award aims to strengthen this commitment and give it continuity into the future.
The Prize is supported, promoted and organized through the collaboration between La MaMa Theatre, in the United States and Europe, the Spoleto Festival dei 2Mondi, and the ITI, International Theatre Institute, with its wide network of Centers spread in more than 70 countries around the World. to starting in 2016, the Festival dei 2Mondi, will host the final stage of the Prize, presenting the work of the winning artist.
