_Cage Shuffle _is a theater/dance solo. In Cage Shuffle, Paul Lazar narrates a series of John Cage stories from one minute taken from live readings of _Indeterminacy _from 1963, and simultaneously performs a complex choreographic score by Annie-B Parson. The stories are delivered in a random order, with no predetermined relationship to the dance, yet randomness plays its inevitable role in creating a blend of extraordinary connections between text and movement. Cage's humor, intellect, and iconoclasm find ideal expression in this new work, which adds dance to Cage's original instructions on the subject of performance: read the stories aloud, adjusting so that each story lasts a minute, whether or not using random modes.
