Festival remembers Gian Carlo Menotti on the anniversary of his death

On Wednesday 1 February, the Festival dei Due Mondi commemorates its founder Gian Carlo Menotti, on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of his death, with the extraordinary opening of the exhibition Gli anni Menotti 1958-1998 at the palace ex Monte di Pietà in via Saffi, in the new from Piero Maccarinelli and Monica Trevisani.Admission to the exhibition is free, open all day from at 11 a.m. at 19. On this occasion, the public will be able to visit the exhibition accompanied by the curator, with an account of the heritage recovery project launched by the Foundation in the last two years. To at 11 there will be a celebratory moment in the presence of the President of the Foundation and Mayor of Spoleto Andrea Sisti and the Councillor Danilo Chiodetti.Il new set-up allows you to get to know from close to the personal universe of the founder of the Festival, through unpublished photos, films, posters and original programs, which tell the atmosphere of the Festival in those years. The extraordinary richness of the productions of the Menottian period is testified by the exhibition of the costumes of L'italiana in Algeri of 1969, Amahl and the Night Visitors of 1996 and Naso of 1995. Thanks to the collaboration with the Istituto Luce, which has to 40 photographs are on display that convey the worldly and international spirit of the "Menotti years". The exhibition is part of the recovery and enhancement project launched by the Foundation Festival dei Due Mondi in the last two years. The openings of the exhibition routes during the winter allow to audience, tourists and visitors to the city to get to know and appreciate the immense heritage of stage costumes, photographs, documents and films that tell the story of the Festival.
