BOTTOM UP: finalists announced for the call that networks area cultural workers
On Tuesday, Sept. 10 and Wednesday, Sept. 11, the Auditorium San Francesco al Prato in Perugia hosted the IX National Meeting of Artistic Residencies entitled The Residencies of the Future / The Future of Residencies, the two-day forum organized by the Ministry of Culture - General Directorate of Performing Arts and the Region of Umbria, under the patronage of the Municipality of Perugia, in collaboration with the Umbrian artistic residencies, C.U.R.to. and HOME. As part of the forum, the three finalists of the BOTTOM UP call were announced, an initiative born from the collaboration between C.U.R.to. - Umbro Centro Umbro Residenze Artistiche, Festival dei Due Mondi, Fontemaggiore Centro di Produzione Teatrale, Home - Centro Creazione Coreografica, Teatro Stabile dell'Umbria, with the aim of supporting, accompanying and developing new works by emerging informal artists/companies/collectives working in the performing arts and launched last summer to consolidate new ways of coordinated work between the different sectors of the Live Performing Arts System and accompanying paths of creation.
The finalists of the BOTTOM UP call for proposals are the ScenaMadre company with Timer, Lunella Cherchi and Caterina Campo with ACCABADORA and UCCIUCCI with HÒS.
Each project will be hosted in residence to Foligno from Spazio ZUT!, Spoleto in the spaces of La MaMa Spoleto Open and Perugia at Dance Gallery. At the end of the residency, the project from will also be chosen to accompany in the subsequent stages of creation and presentation.
Paola Macchi, administrative and general organization director of Festival dei Due Mondi, spoke during the meeting to highlight the importance of working together as a system in the cultural sphere, sharing resources, experiences and skills and fostering more opportunities for artistic creation. "The BOTTOM UP call," said Paola Macchi, "plays an important role because it connects different promoters and cultural institutions in the area, from residency and production centers to festivals and theaters. Working in a network is essential to promote artistic and production processes, providing concrete support to emerging artists, each according to their own specificity. The next step will be to organize a broader table to bring the best artistic experiences to the attention of other operators as well, to give greater visibility and support to young talents, and to ensure that their creations enter the live performance system."
