Barbara Hannigan and Budapest Festival Orchestra honored at Gramophone Awards

Artistic Director Monique Veaute and the Foundation Festival dei Due Mondi congratulate Barbara Hannigan and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, honored at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2022, among the most prestigious awards to international level. Barbara Hannigan is "Artist of the Year"; the Budapest Orchestra, together with its principal conductor Iván Fischer, received the title of "Orchestra of the Year." The last edition of the Spoleto Festival saw Barbara Hannigan's residency for three concerts, for which she was a singer and conductor on the podium ofAccademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, moving from the jazz rhythms of George Gershwin to the contemporary sounds of John Zorn. The Budapest Festival Orchestra began its residency to Spoleto in 2021, for the 65th edition opened the Festival with the great symphonic concert in Piazza Duomo, which presented for the first time in Europe The Passion of Ramakrishna, and three days of from chamber appointments.Monique Veaute commented, "The Gramophone Award, one of the most prestigious international awards for music, which crowned Barbara Hannigan artist of the year, makes us proud and happy because it seals the career of a very great artist and confirms the talent that a wonderful woman has shown this year with all her contagious energy.
