Carlo Goldoni's eighteenth-century comedy La Bottega del Caffè is the starting point for this vertical dance performance in which the words of the Venetian playwright are here translated into a physical score: the characters' speeches become danced sequences, the plot twists unveiled in bodily form, the relationships between social classes rendered through physical actions.
Marco Castelli's music weaves electronica, jazz, and rock into tracks rich in echoes and allusions that represent the universality of the characters: a determined prostitute to make choices for herself, a bartender who cares for others, and a shady fixer who thinks he can buy everything with money and power and will ultimately be left alone.
"It is Venice to uniting vertical dance and Goldonian comedy"-according to choreographer Wanda Moretti. "Indeed, the lagoon city is encapsulated in my daily life and dance form, and it has also influenced my views on the force of gravity and the perception of density and emptiness. The disposition in imagining planes and places therefore unites the two works through time."

Il Posto was born to Venice from the partnership between choreographer Wanda Moretti and musician Marco Castelli and from then rigorously pursues its own artistic project, creating productions and performances in a scenic writing that fuses dance, architecture and music. Il Posto is an Italian testimonial of vertical dance, known for the uniqueness of its creations closely connected to the city, vertical stages par excellence such as buildings, towers, industrial buildings. The language used by the Company has two founding elements: vertical dance, understood as the body moving on a vertical plane and the first source of inspiration, and music, an integral part of the work, written specifically for the choreographies and performed live in the performances.
A choreographer and researcher, she has deepened her study of dance around systems of proportion and harmony of space. Among the pioneers of European vertical dance in the 1990s, she developed its practice by creating a specialized technique, creating performances where space and movement merge into a single scene. Thanks to his fascination with vertical writing always "in process" in architectures and his deep interest in the territory and landscape, his creations have participated to international events and festivals. Today Moretti continues his research on vertical planes and architecture by directing his attention to site-specific creations, ideal cues to reflect on the past and future. Since 2018 he has directed the Vertical Dance Centre, a former industrial space equipped for vertical dance, the Company's mother house, a place for experimentation and dissemination. In 2022 he published Vertical Dance: perceiving and creating space for Ephemeria Editions.
A saxophonist, composer and producer, he is an eclectic artist whose activity takes place not only in jazz but also in theater, dance and the vast territory of intermedial performance.
The performing and compositional style he proposes and the approach of his musical communication allow him to frequent various territories and languages with naturalness and creativity, alternating his activity as a saxophonist to with that of big band director and sound designer. Castelli is also founder of the Anelli Records label. In addition to his concert activity in Italy and a discography of more than fifty titles, he stands out for his international activity with concerts and tours all over the world, from Europe to the USA, Africa, South America and Asia, participating to important festivals including Singapore Art, Montreal Jazz Festival, San Sebastian Jazz Festival in Spain, Bohemia Jazz, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Athens Jazz, Cervantino Festival, Ocho Rios Jazz Festival. Numerous national and international collaborations including Philip Catherine, Lee Konitz, Marcus Stockhausen, Martin Lubenov, Pietro Tonolo. Important collaborations in theater and performance as well: Alda Merini, Alessandro Baricco, Vitaliano Trevisan, Paolo Puppa, Wanda Moretti, Antonio Giarola, Franco Dragone Entertainment, Luc Petit Creation.
