Benjamin Millepied
L.to. Dance Project is an artistic collective founded by renowned choreographer and dancer Benjamin Millepied, together with composer Nico Muhly, artistic consultant Matthieu Humery, producer Charles Fabius, and film producer Dimitri Chamblas.
The goal of the L.to. Dance Project is to conceive new works, but also to breathe new life to into what have been the seminal creations of the most important dancers and choreographers of the past. The new works created by the company aspire to be multidisciplinary collaborations between different artists: visual artists, musicians, designers, directors and composers. The L.to. Dance Project promotes bothopera emerging and established artists, helping to launch new platforms for contemporary dance.

BENJAMIN MILLEPIED
Born to Bordeaux, France, Benjamin Millepied was initiated into dance at the age of eight, from his mother Catherine, a former modern dancer. After studying classical ballet with Michel Rahn at the National Conservatory of Lyon, he moved to New York in 1992 to attend the School of American Ballet. During that time she received numerous prestigious awards, including the "Bourse Lavoisier" from from the French Ministry of Culture, the "Prix de Lausanne," and the Mae L. Wien "Award for Outstanding Promise." In 1995 he joined to the New York City Ballet, quickly becoming its First Dancer in 2001. Throughout his career with the New York company, he dances principal roles in ballets by well-known choreographers, including George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Peter Martins. She also embodies characters in new works by Jerome Robbins, Peter Martins, Angelin Preljocaj, Mauro Bigonzetti, Alexei Ratmanski, and Christopher Wheeldon. In 1999 and 2002 he appeared with NYCB on the national television show Live From Lincoln Center. He retired from the company in 2011. In addition to to being a celebrated dancer, Millepied is also a talented choreographer, having created for the world's most famous companies, including the New York City Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Mariinsky Ballet, Geneva Opera Ballet, Lyon Opera Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet, as well as for artists such as Mikhail Baryshnikov. His choreography is regularly staged from ballet companies around the world. In 2010 he was awarded the title of Chevalier by the prestigious "Ordre des Arts et des Lettres." In 2010 he choreographed and performed in Darren Aronofsky's award-winning film The Black Swan.
The same year he directed his first short film. He also made five, in 2011, for a multimedia show entitled Portals. MIllepied is currently involved in directing on a regular basis. In 2011 he also became the face of Yves Saint Laurent's new perfume "L'Homme Libre." In 2012 he directs the musical performance of the production Hands On to Hardbody, staged to La Jolla Playhouse, which debuts to Broadway, to New York in spring 2013. In 2012 he announced the creation of the L.to. Dance Project, his new dance company, whose inaugural performances, commissioned from The Music Center, feature his new choreography with music by Nico Muhly, sets by Christopher Wool, and costumes by Rodarte. Throughout 2013 the L.to. Dance Project will be on tour in the United States and abroad. from September 2014 Benjamin Millepied will take over as Director of the corps de ballet of the Opéra de Paris.
