ANATOMIA DI UNA CONDANNA
Little is generally known about Jesus' last at ; even less is known about the political and military situation in Palestine during those years. Yet these are fundamental elements to better understand the tragic fate of that Righteous One. Why was Jesus arrested? What were the charges? What prompted the Roman prosecutor to issue a capital sentence? Do the gospels (canonical and otherwise) give a comprehensive - and concordant - explanation of the events? Or do they? Why is so little said about Mary, nothing said about Joseph? Who was Judas really? Why did he betray?
If one begins to to ask these questions, one quickly sees that very little is generally known about an affair that has been told a hundred times; the dark sides and unanswered questions clearly outweigh the known facts.
The play uses accompanied images from a sorrowful musical accompaniment to stimulate the viewer to discover a Jesus not "a victim of a power game" but ready to to put his very life on the line for his ideas.
The discovery, in some ways astonishing, is that an earthbound and time-bound Jesus, an advocate of a revolutionary message, shines a brighter light than usual, making him even more fascinating and moving.
