Dado Moroni, Eddie Gomez & Joe La Barbera
Kind of Bill
A new space dedicated to music and in particular to African-American culture. A showcase for new generations of musicians as well as a limelight for renowned artists, on the stage of the Jazz Club set up to Palazzo Collicola Dado Moroni, a musician with a masterful piano maturity, and the two Jazz legends Eddie Gomez and Joe La Barbera make their debut at the Spoleto Festival.
Those who know Bill Evans know how much he and his music have been a milestone in the history of jazz, and Kind of Bill, as expressed by Dado Moroni himself, is not just a tribute, but a celebration of the legacy Evans left us, a true reminder of the memory, choice of notes and style of this great Artist. At the same time, this project is also a tribute to two extraordinary musicians who collaborated to creating the music and sound we still know today as the Bill Evans sound by recording with the American pianist and composer records that are still considered precious gems of jazz discography: Puerto Rican double bassist Eddie Gomez and American drummer Joe La Barbera. Gomez, gifted with virtuoso and brilliant technique, played for no less than eleven years with Evans and was featured on, among others, the celebrated 1968 album Live At The Montreux Jazz Festival. La Barbera, a musician who was always measured and intelligent in opening spaces for his comrades, was Evans' last drummer before his passing, as well as the protagonist of another milestone such as The Paris Concert.
