Classical Savion
Savion Glover Savion Glover is more than just a great tap dancer of his generation. He is extraordinary as a dance technician, inventor and incredible is his stage presence. from when, to twelve years old, he was considered the child prodigy of tap he has gone from from one success to another. His latest project, Classical Savion, has him performing music by Vivaldi, Bach, Bartók and Mendelssohn as well as Astor Piazzolla. And just in case the audience should miss the classic from tip-tap accompaniment, Glover offers this in the closing of the show, blending classical musicians-the young and enthusiastic academy virtuosos directed from Robert Sadin-into the languid performance of his usual partners, the Otherz, a group of jazz musicians who could not be softer. The staging features Glover on a wide wooden platform equipped with microphones, with the musicians arranged behind him in circular tiers, as if to envelop the dancer in an embrace.
