Bosco di San Gregorio
The Bosco di San Gregorio is a participatory intervention that transforms Piazza Garibaldi into an elegant Italian Garden with native plant individuals. The initiative aims to assess how vegetation affects the microclimate of the square and surrounding areas, as well as to observe citizen behavior in an environment that combines historic monumental architecture with 19th-century gardens. Thanks to the support of Pnat (Project Nature), the think tank of designers and plant scientists founded from Stefano Mancuso, the project involves acquiring data with thermal imaging cameras to obtain qualitative-quantitative images that can highlight the trees' contribution to heat island mitigation, and demonstrate their cooling effect in the square. The benches and planters are made from waste wood from the DACHSER & FERCAM Italia logistics supply chain by adopting an upcycling approach.
