Banda Musicale della Polizia di Stato

The State Police Musical Band, with a history spanning more than 90 years, has a repertoire that ranges from classical composers to original compositions by modern and contemporary composers, as well as to masterpieces of symphonic-choral literature. Formed in 1928 under the leadership of Maestro Giulio Andrea Marchesini, the Musical Complex boasts piano and guitar in its ensemble, in addition to wind and percussion. The high artistic profile of its interpretations and the quality of the programs offered qualify it among the best Wind Orchestras to international level. Collaborations includeAccademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Comunale in Florence, important artists such as Mariella Devia, Leon Bates, Vincenzo La Scola, Steven Mead, Stefano Bollani, Claudio Baglioni, and, finally, RAI. The Band has performed to Jerusalem, New York, Essen, Mexico, Malta, Oslo and participated in the 2008 Columbus Day celebrations to New York. It performed in the presence of Pope Francis at the Holy See's Paul VI Hall. In collaboration withAccademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, she recorded a CD of Verdi'sopera "Aida," produced from Warner Music, which won Recording of the year/Best opera recording at the BBC Music Magazine Awards and was in the running for the International Opera Awards. As part of the initiatives organized to celebrate the 90th anniversary of its founding, the Banda gave a concert at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in the presence of Oscar winner Ennio Morricone. To date, the Band is led by Maestro Maurizio Billi.
